Q: I'm sprucing up our guest room for a friend and her husband visiting us from Japan. Any creative or budget-conscious ideas for bringing life and warmth to a guest bedroom and bathroom (both rooms are pretty small) are welcome.
Last-Minute Dinner Solution
Surprise dinner guest = no problem at all...at least when you have lemons, basil, mozzarella and pasta in your refrigerator (I pretty much always keep these ingredients handy exactly for occasions like this one).
Good To Know / Bobby Pins Are Mini Miracles
So you know those little plastic whatsits that keep your bread bags closed? I am utterly incapable of holding onto them for more than a day. Fortunately, I also have a habit of shedding bobby pins wherever I roam, so there's always a bunch close at hand that I can use to protect my delicate carbs from the elements.
New Favorite Cheese
All of the cheeses we sampled at Casellula last night were excellent - seriously, you must go to this place if you live in the area (Midtown West) - but I need you to try the one pictured above, second from bottom.
