Garlic & Ginger Green Beans

Strip steak marinated all day in red wine and soy sauce; green beans with garlic and ginger.

Just FYI, those green beans make an excellent last-minute side dish. Here's how you make them:

1. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for about 2 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, heat a little oil in a large pan or wok, and sauté 2 cloves minced garlic and 1 tsp grated fresh ginger for about a minute.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Confession: I hate carving pumpkins. Hate it. But I love the end result (I carved one yesterday afternoon for an upcoming JITH segment), and I also love that this traditional autumn activity provides you with a truly fantastic (and easy-to-prepare) snack.

1. Clean the seeds well, removing all pumpkin strings and pieces.

2. Boil the seeds in salted water for about ten minutes (or soak them overnight).

Honey Corn

Honey Corn is the easiest thing ever, and was inspired by a salty and sweet corn-on-a-stick I picked up at the Lexington Avenue Street Fair last summer.
