Let Your Hair Down

My hair gives me a lot of attitude in the summer, and I usually respond to that attitude by trying to let it do its own thing…and then giving up and putting it in a bun.

The autumn is a whole other story.

The fall is obviously the most fun season for clothing (motorcycle jackets! combat boots! big accessories!)...but it’s also the most fun season for hair: the cool, dry weather means that you can play around with all sorts of different ‘dos, from retro glam waves to braided updos to casual side-ponytails.

My Looks

Leather-Bound

I'm having a little leather moment, as you can see.

I've always been big on leather jackets (it's the ex-motorcycle chick in me) and own more of them than one person really should, but one territory I've never ventured into before is leather shorts. They made me nervous...which makes sense, because they are more often than not very short, very tight, and very much "HELLO I AM WEARING LEATHER SHORTS." I don't mind my outfit shouting a bit, but I wasn't sure leather shorts were saying quite what I'm in the mood to say at this point in my life.

Except...I finally caved and picked up a (faux) pair, and guess what I discovered? They can totally speak at a normal volume. Be edgy, but still classic. Sexy, but still refined. Almost...subtle, even (not quite).

I.N.C. Seattle Event (And What I’m Bringing With Me)

I think I was in Seattle once. I was very, very young, and all I remember is that it was cold and there were lots of people on bicycles. That's basically it.

This time around, hopefully I'll have a slightly more memorable experience.

On Saturday, I'll be hosting a Macy's I.N.C. event at the Alderwood Mall, and I'd love to meet any Seattle-based RG readers - there's a fashion show that starts at 1, and directly afterwards Camila and I will be on hand to provide shopping tips. (More info here, and don't worry about the "sales have ended" thing; the event is open to the public.)

Lust Or Less: Hologram Accessory

Alright, remember these shots of Rihanna out clubbing last summer?

Putting aside for a moment the fact that I could never, ever in my life pull off something like this (stomach and back-baring, brrr and I am An Old and nothankyou)...I love it. Love her hair, love her makeup, love the contrast between the top and the jeans, love that she felt that one technicolor sparkle piece wasn't enough for an outfit and thought it'd be a good idea to add on a hologram purse and shoes...love it all.

Ever since, I've been sort of keeping one eye out for a really great hologram piece to add to my fall wardrobe...and I have found it.
