Lust Or Less: Perfect Sunglasses

I really enjoy an excellent pair of sunglasses. It's the one thing I insist on having with me each and every time I leave the house; there's nothing like a great pair to make you instantly feel (relatively) pulled-together, even if you're just running to the supermarket in pajama pants and an old sweatshirt. I'm also a semi-exhausted person generally, and sunglasses hide tired eyes, so there's that.

I'm also a little picky about the shape of my sunglasses; this is one place where I really enjoy keeping up with the trends. A couple of months ago I was into simple round frames; a few months before that it was the bigger, the better; right now what I like is a largeish round lens with a small wingtip on the outer edges (like the pair I've been wearing constantly these past couple of weeks).

Into The Woods

The fact that Sunday felt more like a really beautiful day in October than almost-June stymied my plans to spend at least part of my birthday passed out in the sun at our local pool.

So we improvised with a walk through the woods.

Remember how I said way back when we were thinking of moving that one of the reasons I wanted to leave the city was because I wanted us to be able to go fishing not because it was a huge event involving rental cars and long drives, but just because that's what we feel like doing? This is exactly what I meant.

To get a chance to walk through any non-Central Park woods used to involve some fairly considerable planning, as well as a train or a car or a bus...or all three. And so I never did it. Ever.

A Little Bit Country

Q. Hi Jordan,

I’m having a girls' weekend in Nashville in late June and I’m having trouble figuring out what to wear. We plan on going out to bars and dancing. Style-wise, I have nothing country…and I don’t want to be too costume-y. Any help would be great!

A. One of my favorite items in my entire closet is a pair of maroon cowboy boots that I found for ten bucks at a Salvation Army in Colorado during my freshman year of college and that I wore for about ten years straight, spending way more than they wore worth to patch them up every time they completely fell apart (which they did about four times). They even have a nick in them from a for-real switchblade - a little incident that occurred during a particularly raucous evening of tending bar at Hogs 'n' Heifers.

What We Wore: One Night In Vegas

Francesca and I live on opposite coasts now, so we don't get to see each other nearly as often as we'd like. And so when we do get to see each other...we like to do it up.

Pretend we're still living together in L.A. and thinking about things like which bathing suit to wear on a Tuesday afternoon.

Put on sequins and red lipstick and get into a little trouble.

(Oh, okay...we got in no trouble at all. We tried, I swear, but after sacrificing ten bucks to the slot machines we decided to just cut our losses and window-shop for shoes along the Grand Canal.)

I love your style and am hoping you can help me with something. I just found out I'm pregnant! I know it's a little early to be thinking about maternity clothes, but the truth is I'm already bloated and cannot deal with anything tight around my waist. I've got a slew of bridal and baby showers coming up; can you recommend some stylish not-yet-maternity dresses that will work for the first trimester (and maybe beyond)?
