Must-Own Spring Shoe: InStyle For Nine West Gamin Pump
So, remember those leopard pumps that I freaked out a whole bunch about last fall?
The Nine West + Instyle ones that I wore everywhere (including to the Macy's event I'm pictured at above with some lovely RG readers)?
They were spectacularly pretty, weirdly comfortable, and $79, and they sold out in about thirty seconds, which made a bunch of you sad.
All Torn Up
I spent a lot of time in high school feeling silly. Like the one people were making fun of, the one who stuttered or said the wrong thing or who had the fact that they were sad or embarrassed or afraid written right across the center of their face. I hated that what I was thinking and feeling was so obvious all the time. And part of it was paranoia, I'm sure, but part of it was true: I was the one who people - even my friends - teased. A lot of the time, I was the one the joke was about. Maybe because it was simple to figure out what would make me blush, or cry. Or maybe because I was, as I feared, silly.
Maybe I was just easy to tease. I still am, I think.
Memory (or “First Knuckle”) Rings At Every Price
Memory rings (also known as "midi rings" and "first knuckle rings") are one of my absolute favorite accessories - I wear them every single day of my life, no matter how casual or fancy I'm being, and love how they're simultaneously elegant and a little edgy. They were super-trendy for awhile, but at this point I think they've transcended being a "thing" and have become just another category of accessory - meaning that while you can find them for next-to-nothing, they're not necessarily a bad place to lay out a little extra money for a piece you'll have forever.
To me, memory rings (which are called that because you can use them to remember to-dos, transferring them from one hand to another when the task has been completed) fall into three basic price categories (I'm ignoring the ones on the $200+ end of the spectrum, because while they're very pretty it's also not necessarily especially practical to spend that kind of money on a ring that honestly might fall off your finger at some point; I've had a lot of luck with mine and even sleep in my rings without them slipping off, but you never know).
{Some favorite picks, above.}
Rainbow Brite
For our last day in Florida, I thought I'd dress up like a rainbow.
I rarely wear super-bright colors - and even more rarely wear a whole bunch of them at once - but I was inspired by my rainbow jelly sandals and the presence of palm trees to get crazy with it.
Purple bag, orange shorts, chartreuse cardigan, turquoise belt and jewelry...why not? To me, this look works because while the colors are all bright, they're also all the same kind of bright (vibrant and jewel-toned), because all of the pieces are simple shapes, and because everything is centered around a single neutral piece (that grey tank).
