How-To: Get Rid Of Fruit Flies

Fruit flies gross me out so much. And since about 90% of my diet for the past year has consisted of strawberries, mangoes, and peaches, they have become way too much a part of my daily life for my liking.

I would really like them to go away. Now, please.

And like a little miracle person, my friend Morgan was there to my rescue. I take absolutely zero credit for this technique, so go ahead and send all your hugs and kisses her way.

How To Make Your Summer Glow Stick Around

I came back from California with a better tan than I've had in…years, actually. So I'd really like it to stick around for as long as possible.

In this week's Allure Insiders segment, how to make your summer glow last and last (and last).

(Click here for lots more of my Allure segments, including how to make your own beach hair spray, quick and easy ways to look rested, and bloopers aplenty.)

Lemon Pasta With Goat Cheese & Asparagus

After I had Indy, I put up a post called "Post-Baby Pasta" in which I talked about how you can totally cook in the weeks after having a baby, so long as you're a little…open-minded about the whole thing.

And I stand by that: sometimes, throwing together a meal is just as easy (or at least almost as easy) as ordering in - you just have to be kind of un-fussy about what you make, be imaginative about using whatever you already have on hand (because let's get real: you are not "just going to run out to the store for a couple of things"), and make sure the whole deal takes no more than about ten minutes start-to-finish.

Let's call this "Post-Baby Pasta Number Two." I made it because it was 6PM and all of us were hungry, it was too late to start the takeout-ordering process, and when I looked in my refrigerator I found asparagus and goat cheese. In our cupboard, I found pasta, and pasta always makes our son happy, so there you go. It would have been better with a heartier pasta like rotini or fusilli, but what I had was spaghetti, so there you go.

Happy New York Fashion Week!

If you've been following along here for awhile, you know that Fashion Week and me don't really mix. Fashion Week is fun, and glamorous, and exciting…and it also stresses me out, because when it comes to getting dressed, I never feel quite right unless I look exactly like myself, and for the past few years, at least, that means feeling comfortable. And "comfortable" isn't exactly the M.O. of Fashion Week attendees.

Is it too much to ask to look kind of great and feel kind of great?

My Looks

Back In The NYC

Hmmmm.

I don't even know what this outfit is, but despite the fact that it's kind of a mess…I like it. I put it on because I was unpacking and it was twenty thousand degrees and humid and I needed to wear as little as possible but am so sick of denim shorts that I could scream, and only then did I realize that it's sort of…great. In a confusing way.

(4Moms Space Egg)

Speaking of 4Moms (that's their space egg - a.k.a. the Mamaroo, but I prefer "space egg" - pictured above) - I have to tell you how funny it is, bringing our awesome Origami stroller out in public. I mean this literally: CROWDS GATHER. We basically caused a forty-person pile-up at the security line of people needing to talk about it and ask questions about it and try it out for themselves and touch it…and I don't just mean the passengers; the security people were chasing us around asking what this crazy thing was called and where could they get one for their wives.
