Anything About This Photo Look Strange To You? …Anything?
Want to hear something super weird and possibly pregnancy-brain-y (it's a real thing)?
When I went to the store a couple of weeks ago to assemble a Valentine's Day present for my son (including these things), I also bought a be-ribboned wicker basket, shredded pastel basket-filler, and...eggs.
Because apparently something in my mind transformed Valentine's Day and Easter into a single holiday, for which one purchases both red heart-shaped things and bunnies.
Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
Because Kendrick loves Rice Krispie treats more than anything and spent a decent percentage of today shoveling snow out of our driveway, and because I am a huge nerd:
I made him a Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treat.
If, like me, you haven't made these things in a couple of decades and need a refresher, here's how you do it:
Obsessed With: HATCH Collection
You know, a big reason that I shied away from purchasing a ton of for-real maternity clothing last time I was pregnant was that I simply didn't want to spend money on things that I'd only wear for a couple of months and then tuck away in a storage bin somewhere.
And so what I ended up mostly doing was making sure that the things I did buy were the kinds of flowy pieces ("maternity" or not) that I tend to wear anyway - things that would be looser on me post-pregnancy, but still be the kinds of items that I would genuinely want to keep on wearing beyond when I "had" to.
That's essentially the philosophy behind HATCH: it's clothing specifically created for mothers-to-be - focusing on soft fabrics and comfortable cuts - but chic enough that you won't just "be able to" wear it post-baby...you'll want to.
Links & Love & Stuff
:) Last night we kicked off what's looking like two days of being snowbound by watching cartoons in bed. "In bed" because I finally broke and installed a TV in our bedroom, and it is the BEST and I LOVE IT and am TOTALLY FINE with the fact that I am now officially a card-carrying Lazy Person who is too much of a sloth to climb a flight of stairs between watching The Bachelor and going to sleep.
:) This new app lets you store your house key in a cloud and immediately cut one at a kiosk if you lock yourself out rather than waiting around for a locksmith (and paying a fortune). It also sounds like it would have solved about 99% of my problems when I was living in the city.
:) If you don't own a fedora yet, this one is classic and perfect (and nicely priced).

The Magic Unicorn Of Strapless Bras
Q. I have a weird question: I love wearing loose off the shoulder tops like you do. I've noticed you very often seem to have no visible strap when you do...so what are you doing to hold the girls up?
Have you found the magic unicorn of strapless bras? I love that bare-shouldered look, but I haven't been able to achieve it. Please help!
DIY Valentine’s Day Cherry Blossom Card (Ages 2+)
One more easy Valentine's Day craft that's especially good for very little kids, since it doesn't require a whole lot in the way of control: a Cherry Blossom Card. The colors are pretty and spring-y, the setup is minimal, and you can make these into anything from small cards for your child's classmates to a larger card for a parent or grandparent.
Penciled In
Ladylike dressing - tailored jackets, pencil skirts, hair that might be considered "coiffed" - just isn't really my thing. I'm not very good at it.
Except...pencil skirts? I like them so much. Usually on other people.
I've had this pencil skirt for approximately most of my life, and never wear it, but it's nice and waist-emphasizing, and despite the fact that I tend not to like emphasizing my waist just because it's not my favorite spot in the world...I figured it might be fun to emphasize it now. Because I'm going to say good-bye to it soon.
