Let’s Go Somewhere Warm & Sunny
Just for fun, because I'm fantasizing this morning: some favorite bathing suits and other pretty let's-blow-this-popsicle-stand-and-head-somewhere-warm things.
P.S. Let me show you the best bathing suit in the world: this one (also available in black). I usually don't spend a ton on bathing suits - I feel like you can often find ones that are just as cute in the $60 range (meaning Victoria's Secret-level prices) - but this bathing suit? Is the best one in the world. It actually belongs to Morgan, who bought it in red (which, alas, no longer appears to exist online, though this one is similar) for her honeymoon; she showed it to me during her wedding weekend four years ago and I've been obsessed ever since, to the point where I feel like I should just buy the thing, because that's what a four-year obsession usually means.
P.P.S. Speaking of Victoria's Secret, look at this crop-top style. Love it love it. I personally require a strap on my tops, but if you don't? Do it.

Oh, Hello Again
My monkey mug and I have rejoined the world, all thanks to a 10AM Skype meeting that allowed me to keep my pajama bottoms on (my goodness, do I ever love that about Skype), but still required me to actually brush my hair and put on for-real makeup for the first time in two weeks. The meeting ended up getting pushed to tomorrow, but that's okay...because it means that I actually brushed my hair and put on for-real makeup for the first time in two weeks.
Small successes.
I even...(sort of)...want to go to the gym*. It's like a post-Christmas miracle.

How-To: Cover Up A Cold
I look terrible lately.
These past couple of weeks have slain me. Between the weather and a cold that will not go away and the fact that our house is hovering around negative eighty thousand percent humidity (we have humidifiers going in the bedrooms, but still), I am a shriveled, pale little gremlin, and it’s honestly just best if I stay put right here in my pajamas so that none save for those who are obliged by blood and marriage vows to love me no matter what have to bear witness.
Except it’s been a couple of weeks of this, now. And hibernating for a few days is one thing, but once you get into the double-digits it starts getting a little ridiculous. You need to start seeing people once in awhile, lest they think you died.
So: let’s talk how to look good(ish), even if you’re feeling bad.
Spectacular Spinach Lasagna
This isn't a dish I make all that often, but every time I do, I re-resolve to pull it back into more frequent rotation. It's so, so good.
The cons: It's a little labor-intensive - not "difficult" at all; it just involves quite a lot of ingredients (none of which are expensive) and a bunch of different pots and pans. I hate cleaning pots and pans with a passion, so if I'm willing to clean four of them, that means we're talking about a seriously delicious meal.
The pros: It makes children eat spinach. Like, request it. What?! (And it keeps really well in the freezer if you want to eat half now and save the rest for a day when you are too tired to do things like construct layered pasta dishes.)
Meltdowns And Cozy Discoveries
I spent a few hours this weekend trying to squeeze more potential storage spaces out of our storage-space-free house, which meant a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond for containers.
This excursion led to two discoveries:
1. Elizabeth Arden's Ultra Plush Robe is wonderful. I didn't mean to buy it, but I ran my hand over it while I passed by on my way to the storage container section, and it was so soft that I had to check the price. And once I saw it was $39, I owned it. I think you should own it, too.
Club Med And A Crochet Swimsuit
We booked a vacation. It was directly inspired by my 2013 recap, in which I posted the above photo and realized just how very much I wanted to be in that exact spot right this very moment.
We weren't planning on going on a trip this year (other than possibly heading to Maine for a few days this summer), because Kendrick's in school (and he's going to India - !! - as part of his program during the spring semester)...but the weather broke me.
I am broken.
