My Looks

Leopard & Cheetah

During the I.N.C. show on Saturday, one of the models was wearing the same leopard-print sweater I had on, and I said something to the audience along the lines of, "If animal prints make you nervous, remember: you can never go wrong if you just stick to one animal-print piece per outfit." And Camila looked at me and said, "When you showed up this morning, I think you were wearing three."

True.

Oops.

Best Vest

I don't know that I've ever received more questions about a single item of clothing than I have about this cable-knit vest (posted a couple of times on my Instagram feed). It's LOFT, and it's here. Enjoy!

Mall Of America I.N.C. Event

Saturday afternoon was spent at the Mall of America, where Camila Alves and I hosted a runway show for I.N.C before heading back to the store to offer some personal styling tips (and help the attendees who won the I.N.C. gift cards do a little shopping).

I loved every single thing about this day, start to finish: it was just crazy fun. I also loved my outfit so much. Let's take a closer look.

“Good” Morning?

I wanted to show you exactly how fantastic I look this morning.

OK, so Kendrick was studying really late last night. And how late he stays up and why is none of my business, and besides: I'm excited for him and proud of him for being so hard-working and dedicated. But I have this thing - and I know I'm not alone here, because my friend told me it's the same for her when her husband falls asleep on the couch or whatever and she has to go out and wake him up and get him back into bed before she herself can pass out - where I cannot fall asleep until Kendrick is in bed too. I can sort of doze, but if he is in the house I do not actually fall asleep until he is laying there next to me.

I try to let him know that this is my problem, not his - just another fun byproduct of my decade-long argument with Sleep - and he can of course do whatever he wants and stay up until whenever he wants, but I'm certain it's still extremely annoying for him, feeling like he's keeping his wife awake just by virtue of not deciding to go to sleep at the exact same moment she does. I explain my restlessness when he's downstairs to myself as an anticipation of being woken back up when he comes into the room, but let's get real: I'm sure it's some kind of weird control thing.

To The Other Side

Q. Hi Jordan,

As I continue to read your blog, I find myself especially appreciative of your posts about life issues faced by young women. They're definitely relevant to me and I love your honest and optimistic approach.

On that note, I'm really hoping you might be able to offer some advice about my relationship situation.

Off To Minnesota With I.N.C.

On Saturday, I'm hosting an I.N.C. event with Camila Alves-McConaughey (click here to check out our last one, in Vegas) in Bloomington, MN at the Mall of America - if you're in the area, feel free to stop by! I'd love to meet you, and it should be a lot of fun. Also, if I do something like fall on my face or turn purple - and there's always a chance - you'll get to see the festivities first-hand.

And: I've never been in Bloomington before and should have a couple of hours to kill before my return flight, so any recommendations of places to go/things to eat are very welcome!

Strawberry-Basil Fizz

When Kendrick and I got home from our Saturday adventures, it was that moment right before the sun sets when all you (or at least I) want to do is collapse into a hammock with an US Weekly. So that's what I did, and I was all relaxed and cozy...and then I turned the page and spotted a recipe for something called a Strawberry-Basil Rickey.

You know what makes those just-before-sunset-in-a-hammock moments even better?

A cocktail.

This particular recipe required things like fresh herbs and mortar and pestles and Cointreau, though, so as delicious as it looked, it wasn't going to happen. Not right then, anyway.

Click Your Heels Three Times

For Part II of our date night in the city I wore my favorite silhouette of the moment: a partially-tucked-in tank (literally, every single time I do this Kendrick says "What are you doing to your shirt?" to which I reply, of course, "It's FASHUN, darrrrling") with mid-rise jeans, a belt and heels. It looks kinda like I'm wearing overalls, no? I'm fine with that.

Ooh, those heels, I love them so. I've been mooning over these silver Jimmy Choos all summer, but this pair was $39.99 (and have a neat faux-wood heel), and $39.99<$650, so there you go. Also, for some reason they make me think of The Wizard of Oz, despite the fact that they are neither red nor bedazzled.

P.S. That is some serious post-rock-climbing hair, right there. I knew I wanted to take photos of this outfit and actually brought my curling iron to Chelsea Piers with me like a vain little unicorn, but an hour of exercise + no visible outlets + no mirror = my very special patented brand of curlybangs and a bun.
