Polka-Dot Pants, Three Ways

Oh my goodness, do I ever love my new pants.

Now, I'm big on pairing black-and-white with neutrals and denim, but the way to really make the look extra-special is to add a touch of super-bright (even neon) color. If you feel like going big, try a blouse in a saturated shade; if subtle is more your thing an amazing necklace or bag does the trick nicely.

Three ways I'd wear the look:

May Issue Of Better Homes & Gardens

If you get a chance, check out the issue of Better Homes & Gardens on newsstands right now, in which I talk cleaning tips and top products. These products, of course, include my very most favorite cleaning-type item in the entire world, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It's amazing, and you can watch my husband be awestruck by its wonders in this video.

Out With The Old, In With The Blue

Alright, I'm not gonna lie: this isn't my favorite outfit in the world.

The pants? Favorite. I bought them in Colorado and have barely taken them off since; they're just the most comfortable things in the world.

And I love them with the teal blouse and the matching shoes, but the navy sweater just...eh. It sort of dulls down the whole look.

But you know what? Sometimes one is cold, and so one puts on a navy sweater that doesn't quite match because that's just how life goes. And yeah, this sweater is a good eight years old and has seen better days, but I have so many fond memories of it that I wanted to wear it one more time before it gets too warm.

Weekend Snapshots: Big Days And Bouncy Castles Edition

You know how they say that mothers get all nostalgic and weepy and fall into little my-baby's-growing-up-too-fast emotional pieces during the first haircut?

Nah.

I mean, trust me: I have plenty of weepy my-baby's-growing-up-too-fast moments. Plenty.

This just wasn't one of them; I was more or less thrilled that we made it through the entire experience without tears or, you know...stab wounds caused by contact between a flailing baby head and an errant pair of scissors.

Boulder, Day 2

This is where I spent most of yesterday: in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Chatauqua Park. You know, in college I had a roommate who had grown up right in this part of Boulder, and was always going on and on about how it was the best place in the world, and everyone should live there, and I didn't really get it...

But now I do. It's that beautiful. And the people are friendly, and everyone's outdoorsy, and the streets are clean, and the restaurants (from what I've seen) are great, and the vintage shopping appears fairly spectacular (I'll do more research on this point later on today), and et cetera et cetera. A+ city.

This photograph is much less weird than it appears: that's me posing with my makeup artist, Cindy, while our sound guy adjusts my mic. I can't explain why I'm holding that stick.
