Boulder, Day 1: Zig-Zag Scarves & Zombies, For Real

I've been in Boulder for about thirty hours now, and I've only ventured about ten feet from the front door of our hotel.

Don't worry, I understand that Colorado is a fantastic place and I'm sure I'll head out adventuring at some point later today (...I hear we're shooting on a mountain somewhere?)...but we've been busy running around doing lots and lots (and lots) of fall/holiday fashion segments for Better TV, so there hasn't been time for a whole lot else. (The segments, like the ones I shot in Miami, feature Crocs, which now makes things like snowboots and cold weather-appropriate slip-ons and all sorts of other wintry styles - and yes, I was surprised too. Click here for some more behind-the-scenes shots on their FB page.)

I loved the look that the makeup artist created for me - it's a bit softer than what I usually do, with powder liner rather than liquid and warm, rosy blush. The lipstick - a mix of Sue Devitt Lip Intensifier Pencil in Kirakira and Clinique Almost Lipstick in Luscious Honey - is my own, and my favorite shade at the moment. I'm sorta over the red for the time being, and am enjoying looking a little more natural.

Improvisational Crockpot Chicken & Beer Stew

Here's my favorite thing about cooking, which also happens to be the reason that I hate hate hate baking (which requires precision and adherence to things like "rules") with a passion: with cooking, once you know the basics, you're probably OK. And you can adjust whatever it is that you feel like eating to suit things like time constraints and refrigerator contents.

My boys are all on their lonesome for an entire week, and while I'm sure they'll survive, I'm also sure that Thai food (Kendrick) and scrambled eggs (Indy; what can I say? He's obsessed) will play a major part in their diet for the next few days. So my plan on Sunday was to make this Easy Crockpot Chicken Stew to leave for them as, you know...a supplement.

Except we got distracted by trips to diners, romps around the backyard and naps, and I forgot that this was my plan until 3PM...which left me with about half the time the recipe requires.

Oh yes, and I couldn't find chicken stock. Which is kind of important when you're making chicken stew.

Super into pink pants lately (pictured above: LOFT tee, T.J. Maxx pants, Alexandra Satine purse).

Made it to Boulder! Not without a little drama, of course...'cause that's how I roll.

I would like to send out a virtual hug to the boy who held my hand on last night's flight during the turbulence. I was terrified, and you made it better.

Off To Colorado: In My Carry-On

I'm headed to Colorado for the week with Better TV, filming a bunch of segments on fall/holiday fashion (yes, already). This trip has presented a bit of a packing conundrum, because it's apparently going to fluctuate between sixty degrees and a blizzard during the five days that I'll be there. Oh yes, and I'm bringing wardrobe for five different segments, plus a couple of additional segments that we may or may not film...but at this point aren't exactly certain what said segments might entail.

Which makes them difficult to pack for.

Basically, I'm bringing All The Things.

But here's what I'm bringing in my carry-on (that's an Isabella Fiore satchel).

Weekend Snapshots: Slightly Misguided Bravery Edition

Look at that little man.

Just rambling through the mall, all cool and grown-up and like ain't nothing gonna faze him.

The kind of guy who could just mosey on into a 10AM matinee of The Croods - no biggie - and just sit there, chilling in his seat with his popcorn, for the full one hour and thirty-one minutes.
