Like many people, I'd say that my kitchen is hands-down the hardest-working room in our house: I mean, sure, it’s where I cook dinner every night…but our kitchen is much more than just the room where I break out the pots and pans. It’s also where my son explores the intricacies of whether or not scrambled eggs really can fly (they can), where Lucy and Virgil create mud paintings using materials dragged in from our backyard, and where my husband and I perch on the countertops for a late-night catch-up after all the small creatures in the house have retired for the evening.
But high-activity goes hand-in-hand with high-mess, so I end up doing a lot of cleaning in our kitchen…and want to make sure that I’m using products that make the whole messy chore just a little bit easier. Presenting: three of my must-have cleaning products, all recipients of aBetter Homes and Gardens Best New Product Award, voted on by consumers in an independent research study.
First, we need to talk about Mr. Clean Select-A-Size Magic Erasers. This is important, so pay attention.
The plan is to wear this outfit (or at least some variation on it) all weekend long.

Q. Hi Jordan,
I love your home style with its very personal and eclectic - but still very chic - feel, and I was wondering if you had any recommendations you could throw my way for registering for our very first married home. Thanks so much!

My latest Better TV segment, in which I talk Better Homes & Gardens Best New Product Winners and straighten up the studio...all while wearing a cocktail dress. Of course.
Have to say: Elizabeth Arden is killing it with the packaging design lately. First came the 1950s throwback Rose Aurora Collection, and now this new collection for Spring/Summer 2013: New York in Bloom. Pretty flowers on the lid, even prettier colors inside.
My favorite piece from the collection: the Eye Shadow Trio in Violet. It's rare that I see a palette in which I'd use all three shades equally, and this one is straight-up stunning. Try lightening up your lids with the pink shadow (I start with a pale nude or pink shade every single time I apply eyeshadow), then apply the taupe shade for daytime and darken up the creases with the deeper color for evening.
- Burning rose-scented candles;
- Drinking Sleepytime tea out of ridiculous mugs;
- Seeing generally (whee), thanks to my very lovely new glasses (c/o Lookmatic);
- Explaining to Kendrick the finer points of why the Crate & Barrel throw pillows I bought today are for appreciating, not for smooshing;
When my mom got into the back seat of our car (we picked her up on the way over to my aunt's) and saw me bundled up in a coat and jeans she was all... "Oh. Huh." [Vague judgmental expression.] "I thought you'd be wearing a dress."
Let me introduce you to the cocktail (recipe via Bon Appetit) that my aunt served us at Passover dinner on Sunday, because it is ridiculous good.
Sweet, but not cloying-sweet. Tangy, but not forces-you-to-make-weird-faces tangy. My aunt warned me that making them for a crowd can get a little pricey once you throw in the Hendrick's...but also said that good old Absolut does the trick nicely as well.
