Oscars 2013: Best Head-To-Toe

When it comes to red-carpet fashion the dress is the biggie, of course...but it's the head-to-toe styling that really makes an impact.

Example: Zoe Saldana. I didn't really love her Alexis Mabille dress (although I appreciate how original it is)...but that is some gorgeous hair and makeup.

Warwickshire Bed & Breakfast: Warwick, N.Y.

Where we stayed this weekend: the Warwickshire B&B up in Warwick, N.Y. (which you may recognize from this JITH segment).

Seriously, it's the most romantic place ever. If you're anywhere in the general area, you have to go. The house is a historical landmark, which means that it looks like it just arrived from the turn of the century, and is filled with crystal chandeliers, gold-framed mirrors, fireplaces, sparkle lights, and vintage stoves. And the place is run by the absolute nicest owners in the world. And is conveniently located within walking distance of one of my favorite day-trip spots in the area.

Grown-Up Pants

You know how child actors are always going on about how they "skipped their childhoods"? Well, I didn't do that. I was good and irresponsible during those key formative years. But I did have some expectation that six or so years spent traipsing around on sets alongside people twice my age followed by four years of pretty excellent education would spit me out on the other side capable of...you know...being an adult. Not through any effort of my own, mind you. Just because I figured someone would implant that knowledge directly into my brain with zero exertion on my part.

...What, that's not how it works?

I started acting professionally when I was twelve years old and a director who lived in my building asked me to audition for a commercial he was shooting. I got an acting agent, and then hooked up with Ford to do some modeling, and within a year I was going on auditions and go-sees more days than not. I went to a relatively arts-friendly high school, and they let me rearrange my schedule so that I took the majority of my classes in the mornings, leaving me free for work in the afternoons.

And it was fun, mostly.

First Look: Derek Lam for DesigNation

Derek Lam's new DesigNation collection, pictured below, is inspired by the easygoing, sensual nature of Rio, and geared at the budget-friendly consumer looking for versatile pieces that transition from day to night, beach to cafe.

The collection won't be available until April, but I got the chance to check out a preview...and thought you might be interested in a little sneak peek as well. Here you go!

Let’s Talk Oscars And Black-Tie Ponytails

Oof, am I ever excited for the Oscars on Sunday. Not because I've seen most of the movies that are nominated (I haven't, although I'm casting my uneducated vote for Argo), and not because I like Seth McFarlane (I don't really; he makes me uncomfortable, and not in a "whee, so edgy and awesome" way...more in a "oh dear, I feel bad for his targets" way)...because of the clothes.

Awhile back, StyledOn.com asked me what I would wear if I were attending the Met Ball.

This is what I chose: Elie Saab couture paired with glowing skin, tousled hair, and touches of sparkle.
