Chiffon Sleeves & Purple Ruffles
Every year, my Hanukkah present from my parents was a new dress that I could wear to the various festivities taking place over the holiday season, and in the months following.
One More Perfect Mama Present / Soft-Maps
Yesterday my friend Melissa came by to meet the baby, and brought with her a gift so special that I had to tell you about it (especially since just yesterday I was talking mama-to-be presents).
Remember Soft-Maps? I wrote about them a long time ago - they're a custom quilt company started by architect (and friend-of-a-friend) Emily Fischer. She quilts maps of various locations onto blankets (regular-sized or baby-sized), which you can then customize by having embroidery added: say, a heart to mark the spot where the baby was born (NYU Langone is marked on ours, along with our apartment's location), and/or the baby's name. DIY quilt customization kits are also available for the crafty.
I was just thinking: if this move does end up happening, how cool it's going to be for Indy to have a blanket that he gets to keep for his entire life showing that he was born right smack in the middle of New York City.

Start From Scratch: Building Your Wardrobe
When you're building a wardrobe from scratch, the easiest (and most cost-effective) way to go about doing that is to figure out what kind of silhouette you feel best in, buy a few key pieces to mix and match, and then add variety and interest with accessories.

Speaking Of Multitasking…
Want to hear a couple of sorta neurotic but 100% effective tricks for keeping apartment mess manageable?
You Know, I Was Always Pretty Good At Multitasking…
...but these days, I'm great. The term "whirling dervish" comes to mind. One thing that every single friend who's come to visit has commented on is the fact that I am no longer capable of sitting still, even for a minute - I'm constantly running from room to room picking things up, putting things down, straightening, adjusting, fixing, feeding, pouring, stirring, turning off, turning on...
It's kind of exhausting.
It makes me do things like accidentally start bouncing a bag of dog food on my hip while waiting on line at the grocery store (this happened).
But it's also the only way to get everything done.
Holiday Style: Tights On, Tights Off?
Q. Jordan! I'm wearing this dress to my husband's work cocktail party (I wouldn't normally pick such a tight dress for a holiday party, but the husband insisted on "sexy" instead of my usual flowy dress style). Will it look dumb with stockings (because girl, it's cold out)? Still undecided if I should go with these booties - should I, shouldn't I?
Thanks so much,

Hangover Helper / New Year’s Breakfast
Two of those and a little hair of the dog in screwdriver form (what? It's New Years Day) make for an excellent hangover cure.
