This is an October morning in a bowl.

Weekend Snapshots…Featuring An Experiment That Did Not Work
So today is my due date.
Well, It’s Official
I keep a pair of easy-on, easy-off shoes by the front door for dog-walking purposes...
and this morning I switched out the flip-flops for Uggs.
So I guess that officially makes it fall.
Dog Parties (Seriously)…Plus DIY Dog Treats
I know, the whole concept of a "dog party" sounds a little...odd. But bear with me, because I can also speak from personal experience, and dog parties? Fun.
Tip Of The Day: Grating Soft Cheese
This one is for those of you who don't own Kevlar gloves (I know, you're jealous). Before grating soft cheeses like mozzarella, cover them in plastic wrap and stick them in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes (or until firm).
On the menu tonight: Caprese Pasta (as an aside...whoa, check out what my food pictures used to look like! Eeek).
2-Minute Makeup: Navy & Gold Eye
One of my favorite looks for fall, the navy-and-gold eye can be worn subtly for day, or drama-ed up for night
BrunchCritic Fall Event – Tickets On Sale Now (Plus Giveaway)
On October 22nd, BrunchCritic is hosting Orange You Glad It's October, a brunch event at an absolutely spectacular loft space down on Hudson (I've seen it; it's gorgeous). Bottomless drinks, fabulous food by L'Artusi and ellabess, and fun surprises!
Tickets ($60) can be purchased via Eventbrite, and my friend Andrea (the founder of the site) has generously offered three pairs to RG readers, so if you're an NYC-er and would like to attend just comment below. Winners will be chosen randomly and contacted via email (so use your for-real email; it won't show up in the comment) within a week or so.
Remember: everyone must wear at least something orange. A dress, scarf, a tie, a thong...whatever. But something.
Hope to see some of you guys there!
Pregnancy Advice III: The Name Game
Q. Not that you need to disclose any name you have chosen, but how did you and Kendrick make this decision?
My college boyfriend and I once got to discussing what we would name our children-to-be, should things ever progress in that direction. He told me that he had always known what his first son would be named, and that it was not a topic that was, to his mind, up for discussion.
The name that he had chosen? Atlas. As in the big muscle-y dude holding up the sky. Which I'm sure is very well-suited for some, but...not so much my style.
So I was psyched to discover that Kendrick and I have pretty similar taste in names.
Last-Minute Biscuits
It happens all the time: I plan some kind of lovely, semi-elaborate meal that takes hours to prepare...and then, minutes before I'm ready to put everything out on the table, I remember that little carbohydrate issue.
