One year ago today, I wrote my very first post. I had just quit my job in order to embark on a pretty insane - and, I'm sure some thought, extremely ill-advised - adventure, and had absolutely no idea where I was headed, although I hoped it would be better than where I'd been.

We spent the weekend in Bear Mountain for my high school best friend Cynthia's wedding, with stopovers each way in Nyack (one of my favorite day trips).

Surprise dinner guest = no problem at all...at least when you have lemons, basil, mozzarella and pasta in your refrigerator (I pretty much always keep these ingredients handy exactly for occasions like this one).
