Asparagus with Prosciutto and Poached Eggs

Mostly Pinterest functions to make me feel bad about myself. My hair, my nails, my smoky-eye abilities, the scarcity of silk trench coats in my closet, and oh my god my dinners.

It's not that my dinners are bad; they're usually pretty good ifIdosaysomyself - they're just not...I don't know, accessorized. Surrounded with little trimmings of locally sourced flower buds, or resting on snow-white plates with attractive little drip-drops of olive oil scattered about the edges, or whatever. (A caveat: lately my dinners have actually been rawther lovely, but that's because of Trader Joe's, not because of any exceptional food-styling abilities on my part.)

Anyway, this dinner - actually a "brinner,"* if we're being specific - is, like, the Kirsten Bell of meals (I'm watching Frozen with Indy right now - try not to be shocked - and this is the first cute actress who popped to mind, but it actually makes sense because she seems like, were she a food, she would be quite delicious).

Major Makeover: How I Turned A Tiny, Unused Bonus Room Into The Most Efficient Space In Our House

Now THIS is the one I've been waiting to show you. When we first started looking for a new home, I knew that I wanted some kind of office space/playroom adjacent to the living area, so that the whole family can still hang out together when we're all doing different things. And the house we ended up in did have a (very) small bonus room, but it didn't open onto the living room, and felt stuffy and oddly proportioned, so it basically ended up becoming a receptacle room for all the stuff we didn't know what else to do with.

A trash dump, in other words.

Not ideal.

Claustrophobic Bathroom: Help, Please?

This is not my bathroom. (via OKL)

Last time I asked for ideas for what to do with our hallway bathroom - which was similarly darkish and un-pretty - you guys had the BEST suggestions. And I ended up implementing a bunch of them, and now that bathroom has been transformed from a room I wasn't especially excited to spend time in into my personal little Spa Heaven.

So: I need some help again.

Tulle Party Dress from Stripes Boutique

When I was in New York for just one night last week, I ran out to have a half-hour dinner with my mom, and ended up crying. For literally no reason. We were eating gnocchi and talking about the decorations for Goldie's upcoming birthday party, and all of a sudden -> tears. It was super hormonal-y, and totally reminded me of the post-birth mood swings, and I couldn't figure out what was going on for a second, until I realized.

Pretty Little Things

Lulu & Georgia Pillow and Lamp | Pendleton Blanket

OK, so the renovation projects I've been doing have been SO much fun...but now that the majority of them (not all of them, no no, but the majority of them) are sort of winding down, I'm in finishing-touches mode. I've always decorated in a sort of mishmosh way - a lamp that my parents were going to toss, a blanket that I bought for my dorm room and have dragged back and forth across the country ever since, whatever light fixture was already present when I moved into wherever I'm living at the moment, et cetera.

But this house is so special to me - I've been putting so much work into it - that it's exciting to look at each room, take a step back, and see if there's any last little touch that might make it feel...perfect.
