Whenever I visit Hawaii, I end up eating my face off. I’ve come to embrace the fact that I’ll always end up leaving the island a few pounds heavier. Le sigh.

At Lansdowne Road
The Internet at my parents' place is down (we're housesitting for the weekend so Kendrick can record and I can watch their billions of movie channels), so my computer and I are presently parked at Lansdowne Road, on 10th Ave, listening to this song.
SATC Reenactment / Less Fun Than You Might Imagine
Last night, after Kendrick and I went to see Inception (which reminded me of watching Kendrick play video games: mildly entertaining, vaguely confusing, and definitely not something I want to have happen for two-plus hours), we came home and more or less re-enacted this scene from Sex and the City.
Good Times
Vimeo has been giving me sass all day, so I switched over to YouTube to bring you this scintillating video. Be warned: it is mind-blowingly exciting, and features Kendrick and me...watching our dogs eat ice cubes.
Wedding Vows Are In The Air
Jordan has been kind enough to let me use the community space to shamelessly promote the new feature on my website: wedding-vow writing. I’ve been writing letters on behalf of other people for five years now (yes, people really do ask me to write letters for them), and this seemed like a logical progression.
Earlier this year my friend Dana, who works at Brides magazine, invited me to participate in an event the magazine was having. My original purpose was to advise brides-to-be on writing what Dana and I call “The Last Letter,” which is the letter the bride (or groom) writes to the groom (or bride) the night before the wedding. More details here.
Then one of Dana’s co-workers suggested I also be the wedding-vow expert at the event. I felt completely qualified because wedding vows are pretty much glorified love letters read in front of family and friends, and I have a lot of experience writing love letters. That got me thinking I really should write wedding vows—I’m sure they’re needed more often than letters. After a few months of procrastinating, I got my act together and the new service is up and running. Stop by if you have a moment, and pass the word along to all the soon-to-be-married people you know.
Leather Portfolios
Yesterday I had a meeting to which I had to bring a bunch of documentation that was important enough that I didn't want to do what I usually do with papers: stuff them into my slouchy purse, where they end up alternately crumpled/ink-stained/lip gloss-adorned.
DIY Dog Heaven
Around 11PM last night, Kendrick came walking towards me holding our ice-cube tray with an expression of utter horror on his face.
Pappardelle w/ Sweet Tomato Sauce, Asparagus & Ricotta
Last night my free-association led me to the conclusion that I wanted pasta with a sweet tomato sauce, asparagus, and ricotta. So I made it. It was fantastic.
Well, This Was A Fun Lunch Break
Yesterday afternoon my friend Francesca, who works for a company called Obvious Clothing, stopped by for lunch on her way to the office. She had a few samples from their line with her that she wanted my opinion on, so we had a little impromptu dress-up party along with our grilled cheeses.
Sure, Sure…Yesterday Was Busy And Exciting.
But all the lights, cameras, action and what-have-you paled in comparison to the single most exciting thing that happened yesterday. What would that be?
