After stuffing ourselves at Stuffed (hee), the whole crew (Marianne, cameraman Carlos, Megan and I) headed over to my dear friend Scott’s apartment to film an episode about the crazy-good crab fritter (pictured above) that he and his partner Bruce serve up at 44 & X. Scott is so genius on camera that I fear I may be out of a job (video and recipe to come). Seriously, the man is made for TV.

Me with Lobster Bisque
Oh, the food. My fixation on caviar grows stronger by the day: I could have inhaled the entire platter of quail eggs with caviar, but wouldn’t have wanted to deprive the other guests at the Upper Crust event of this extraordinary experience. I didn’t love the lobster bisque, but it brought up some fond memories (we served lobster bisque in little cups at our wedding). My other favorites were the truffled potato bites and the miniature lamb chops (I went for the least miniature one I could find).
One of my favorite elements of the Upper Crust event was these hanging floral centerpieces from Seasons, which cleverly solve two common problems: 1) how to incorporate dramatic arrangements when you’re working with small tables, and 2) how to adjust tall, striking centerpieces so that your guests can still see each other.
I’d love to see these paired with white and gold tasseled tablecloths.

Noraan & Stephen
During the event, we watched a screening of 19 Love Stories: the stories of 19 couples who had worked with The Upper Crust for their weddings. The couples were absolutely adorable - especially the gorgeous pair pictured above, Noraan and Stephen. During a chat after the screening we discovered that Stephen was in Kendrick’s year at Yale and was also a member of an a capella group, and that the two live just a few blocks away from us. Oh, and they too met on the internet (Match.com). Too cute.
En Route To Upper Crust Event
In the car on the way to the Upper Crust event at 91 Horatio Street. The Upper Crust is an events and catering company, so, as you can probably imagine, the event was quite spectacular.
The space itself - which can accommodate between 20 and 200 guests - was stunning (anywhere with exposed brick and flickering candles has my heart), and guests who had attended weddings at 91 Horatio told me that they had been struck by how thoroughly the space can be transformed to incorporate each couple’s desires.
Gap puffy coat, Gap sweater (I told you I’d wear it out at night), Kador glasses, Rachel Roy geode earrings.

BEFORE
AFTER
After meeting Kendrick for a quick coffee at SubtleTea, I popped into the Gap for a little window shopping. Immediately upon entering, I spotted a mannequin adorned in a thin, off-the-shoulder GapBody sweatshirt (pant), and window shopping turned into impulse buying. Always fun.
I love love love perfect-fitting loungewear, and even think that this sweatshirt could go out with me at night if accompanied by tight jeans and tons and tons of jewelry. I’m also looking forward to wearing it with brightly colored shorts and strappy leather wedges this summer (come quickly!).
(I’m a believer in “if-you-find-the-perfect-item-buy-it-in-millions-of-colors,” and very much wanted this in dove gray, pale yellow, and light brown, as well, but alas: I was being semi-responsible. I also very much felt that the gray suede fringe hobo pictured above - only $150! - should be mine, but again: restraint.)
