Remember that whole "unlucky traveler" theme?
It's baaaack!
Last night I flew to Canada for a few days to see my family, mostly because I likely won't be able to come back for several months and I wanted to spend some time with my grandmother, and I was sort of nervous about international travel because, you know...eight months pregnant. But I figured, "Eh, the flight's straight out of Newark and what, like, a little over an hour?" And my doctor said as long as I stayed hydrated, a flight that short was no big deal.
Ah, but did it end up being short? Not so much.
Zodiac Sign Compatibility
Just looked into whether Kendrick and I are compatible, and discovered that we get an 8/10. Not bad!
Seriously, though, this Zodiac Sign Compatibility site (discovered via alexisjulian) is so fun, and was pretty spot-on about our relationship in a lot of ways (although no one's as spot-on as my aunt Trudy when it comes to this stuff; I'm in Canada with her right now, so I foresee a reading on the horizon).
11 Sexiest Bathrooms In NYC
Beauty and Essex offers free champagne in the bathroom?
Seriously?
No, but...seriously? Why would anyone go anywhere else, ever?
You know, I can appreciate this whole thing as much as the next girl, but I have to say: when "sexy bathroom" concepts go wrong, they go really wrong. Example: I was in Vegas once at some club or another, and there was a wall of stalls along one side of the main room with clear-ish doors that frosted over and became opaque once you turned the latch...and let's just say that as the night went on, increasing numbers of people forgot to lock them, and did all sorts of funny, odd, and illegal things in full view of the entire place. It was fantastically entertaining, but I was pretty thrilled to be on the other side of the doors.
Those Sally Hansen Stick-On Things
Finally, after having them recommended to me by everyone in the world, I did it: I bought the Sally Hansen stick-on things (officially known as Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips).
The plan yesterday was to get an actual, for-real pedicure, but at 6PM, on the way home, I decided that I wasn't particularly in the mood to spend forty bucks or to sit in a salon, so CVS it was. The plan was also to pick up a pretty grey polish a la Dior Gris Montaigne and Sally Hansen's Fairy Teal (or something similar), but all the greys were purple-y and all the teals were sparkly, so I had to revise.
I ended up going with my trusty Mink Muffs on the toes...and leopard on my fingers. I totally love it, and I hear that it'll last a week, which would be exciting (since my manicures are usually ruined within ten minutes of application, which is why I never, ever get them done in salons).
Pros/Cons:
Ooh, Steak Sandwich
This is really spectacularly good. It's the filet mignon steak sandwich at 44 & X, and it's what I ate yesterday for lunch.
If you make one at home (recommended! only a few weeks of summer grilling opportunities left!), choose the meat according to your preference (filet mignon = tender and fancy; shell steak = chewier and less pricey), and definitely serve it on a very fluffy bun with caramelized onions, sauteed spinach, and maybe some cheese and mushrooms, for bonus points.
Coconut-Lime Lemonade
In a large glass filled with ice, combine good-quality lemonade with a teaspooon of cream of coconut (it needs to be at room temperature in order to liquefy), and a generous squeeze of fresh lime (optional: add 1.5 oz rum to each glass to transform this into a perfect summer cocktail hour beverage).
Autumnal Fingers & Toes
Favorite nail look for fall: a pure grey on fingers paired with orange, teal, or pink on toes.
I've been way negligent with the pedicures lately, and my feet are starting to look like Frodo's, so this afternoon we'll be doing grey + teal in preparation for tomorrow's trip to Canada (the word on the street is that it's more autumn-y up North).

Profile: Miha Fall/Holiday
It's not quite cardigan weather yet, but I thought I'd give you a little preview of what's to come. And what's to come - and least in my world - are all things slouchy, knit, and cozy.
Pictured above: cardigan c/o Miha, Vintage Revolution skinny jeans, Steve Madden Roady boots.
For this post, I sent over my questions about the Miha Fall & Holiday lines to the creative team to see what their predictions are for the coming months.
Victoria’s Secret Showstopper Bra
THIS IS THE BRA I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR.
For real: all I want is support + pretty + structure + thin straps - padding, and that combo seems to be pretty much impossible to find. If there's an underwire and lift, there are poly-filled armies present, ready to add sixteen extra cup sizes. If there's no padding, there's also nothing to keep the kids from taking a vacation in the vicinity of your belly button. And if there's respectable coverage? There are also three-inch thick grandma straps. Do not want.
Anyway, this bra is everything I've ever dreamed of. Since it's also in the fifty dollar range, I'm waiting to buy one until everything returns to normal dimensions, but on that happy day, this is the sparkly, gorgeous version that will be coming home with me:
