I'm not one of those people who handles extremely warm weather with tousled, adorable abandon - I'm more of a frizzy disaster, usually - but my Keratin treatment has pretty much solved...oh, I don't know: EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM I've ever had with my hair.

Try This Tuesday / Lavender Tea
I love applying lavender products externally - lavender water is a daily staple for me - and recently discovered lavender tea, which has the same lovely, soothing effect, and is a perfect way to wind down at the end of the evening.
The Cottage & The Brigantine
Per reader Erin's rec, Kendrick and I headed over to The Cottage on Saturday morning...and then came back for Round Two on Sunday. The big winner of the weekend: Kendrick's Mashed Potato Omelette.
Kendrick vs. The Bugs: Round 3,276
Kendrick is my hero. He carries stuff, drives me home after weddings while I sleep, and kills bugs. Lots of them. That look of determination when he steels his gaze in the direction of the seething, crawly hellspawn while rolling up a People magazine into a wife-defending implement of destruction...
I Am Smoking A Hookah
I've only sorta-tried one once before, and expected harsh/miserable/weird, but it's actually pretty lovely-tasting and relaxing (we ordered the "Blue Mist" flavor).
Also: Kendrick and I were just chatting about the health effects of hookah-smoking (not that we really have to worry; we've smoked exactly 1 1/2 times in our collective history), and we decided that it's probably far less detrimental than cigarette smoking (the water removes the toxins...?), but apparently that's not so: hookahs are no better than cigarettes, health-wise. FYI.
Scripps Seaside Forum / Completely Gorgeous Wedding
Morgan's wedding, held at the Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, was just stunning.
Happy July 4th!
At this very moment, we're sitting in The Living Room, a hookah lounge/cafe in La Jolla. I'm getting some work done while Kendrick reads Garth Stein's The Art of Racing in the Rain.
Voluspa James Boyce Collection
I love cafes that have simple, lovely things for sale (jams, candles, and the like), and while waiting on line to order at Thyme in the Ranch I discovered Voluspa's James Boyce Chef's Special Candle, which I now want very much.
Thyme in the Ranch
Friday morning's breakfasty lunch at Thyme in the Ranch, apparently the place to go in Rancho Santa Fe (a wonderfully nice gentleman actually escorted us right to the door when we stopped him on the street and asked him where the best place to grab lunch might be).
This Is Actually Where I Am Right Now
In heaven, apparently.
